2012 was the first year for the Amherst County Sports Hall of Fame.

The Board of Directors knew they had their work cut out for them to make 2013 as successful as the year before.
It didn't take long to compile a second group of deserving Inductees who contributed to the great history of Amherst County Sports.

Nominees were coming in from the general public,.
The list of possible Inductees grew larger and the Board of Directors met the challenge again.
They named a third group of Inductees who made sports history in Amherst County.

and the impact on the lives of those who have been inducted.
Recognizing sports athletes, coaches, administrators and contributors has been the talk of the town.
We were receiving nominees who we as a Board of Directors may have forgotten or maybe never heard of.
The Nominating Committee got it right again and named the next group of deserving Inductees.

DownloadEvery year the individual Inductees are honored by being acknowledged
for their contribution to the history of sports in Amherst County.
As for the teams that are inducted every year it is more than the acknowledgement,
it is revisiting the past and re-newing old friendships with friends they have not seen in many years.
Without the Hall of Fame they may have never enjoyed this opportunity in their lifetime.
Seeing friends re-united and enjoying memories that have been held on to for more than 50 years makes it all worth while.

In the beginning many people were reluctant to get involved because they didn't think it would last.
Here we are in year six with the same 12 board members who still have as much dedication as on day one back in 2012.
It's time for them to up their game and that's exactly what they did.

The goal is to choose deserving people from all different sports.
This year is no different. Coaches, contributors, baseball, softball, basketball, football and this year is the first for archery.
Just when you think the Hall of Fame is the best it can be. It seems to get just a little better.
